2012 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo

2012 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo
Volkswagen began building buzz for the 2012 Beetle long before we caught a glimpse of the first spy shots. Volkswagen could hardly blame us. At first blush, this new ¬Beetle—don’t call it the New Beetle—appears to be a GTI wearing a puffy jacket, packing as it does the same 200-hp, 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder and six-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Volkswagen wasn't just asking us to stretch our imaginations to cope with the notion of a sporty-looking, engaging Beetle. Those two attributes alone are enough to put it more in line with original Beetle design, and, as a result, give the 2012 Beetle a portly Porsche 911 appearance.

To be fair, there's much more to the 2012 Beetle than a revised nose. From the front, the Beetle still greets onlookers with a wide-eyed grin thanks to large, round headlights and a smiling grille set low in the front fascia. The Beetle also wears a plunging, hooked hood that harkens to both the previous generation and the original Beetle we all know and love.

Our Turbo tester came wearing an attractive rear spoiler that lent the vehicle a fair helping of athleticism, as did the Bug's 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The trim matches the depth of the vehicle's rocker panels and trails into the rear fenders nicely. And speaking of fenders, the 2012 Beetle wears sheetmetal that's as expressive as ever, though the new design backs away from the semi-circles of models past.

Slip indoors and the 2012 Beetle still offers a surprising amount of headroom. The hardtop bests the 31.4-inches available in the Volkswagen by a hefty 10.3 inches. From behind the wheel, it's clear that the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo desperately wants to seem sporty. Edge is clearly not a part of the Beetle Turbo recipe.

The base
2012 Beetle is saddled with the same loathsome 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine found elsewhere in the brand. Likewise, the Beetle's suspension tuning has been penned for comfort, yielding plenty of body roll under a hard shuffling. And despite offering disc brakes on all four corners, the 2012 Beetle doesn't offer a performance braking experience.

Then there's the fuel economy issue. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that buyers should see 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway out of the Beetle, and we were met with around 23 mpg combined during our time with the vehicle. Given that the Beetle isn't overly quick or powerful, that figure is embarrassing for a hatch this size, especially given that Volkswagen recommends premium fuel for the most performance possible.

2011 Volkswagen Cross Coupe

2011 Volkswagen Cross Coupe
The Volkswagen Cross Coupe Concept is an all-wheel-drive, plug-in hybrid and looks as if a traditional four-door coupe and an SUV got melded together in the design center.

The Volkswagen Cross Coupe concept is not a coupe. Coupes traditionally have two doors; the Cross Coupe has four. Underneath the skin lies one of the more complicated power sources VW has shown — a 148-hp diesel engine and 54-hp electric motor powering the front wheels, and a 114-hp electric motor on the rear axle for all-wheel-drive.

The Cross Coupé concept takes the wacky proportions from cars like the BMW X6 and Acura ZDX, grafts on VW’s newest design language, and applies it to a compact, Tiguan-sized package.

Thankfully, the gas engine gets a boost from not one, but two electric motors, one powering the front axle and another powering the rear axle. The claimed combined output of the gas engine and electric motors is 262 net horsepower.

Being a plug-in hybrid, the Cross Coupé is capable of a 25 mile all-electric range, with a claimed total hypothetical range of 531 miles. In all-electric mode, top speed is limited to 75 mph.

Lastly,
Volkswagen Cross Coupe is showing off another innovation in the concept thanks to its all-wheel-drive system with electric drive shaft. The rear axle is driven by the rear electric motor while power is supplied to the rear electric motor by the one at the front.

2013 Volkswagen Passat Alltrack

2013 Volkswagen Passat Alltrack
Depending on the market, VW will offer the 2013 Volkswagen Passat Alltrack with turbocharged petrol and/or diesel four-cylinder engines. Buyers may also order the car with either front-wheel drive or 4MOTION all-wheel drive.

Aside from the 30mm higher ride height, the Alltrack may be distinguished from the Passat wagon by its grey exterior door handles and the matching mouldings on the wheelarches.

Now, Volkswagen is extending the model series with another specialist: the Volkswagen Passat Alltrack.

2011 Volkswagen Beetle R Concept

2011 Volkswagen Beetle R Concept
Volkswagen may say the 2011 Volkswagen Beetle is more masculine until its blue in the face, but the Beetle will always have that stigma of being driven by those who truly used the standard flower vase found in the last-generation New Beetle.

While VW is mum on power output, the all-wheel drive Golf R makes due with 256-hp so if the front-drive Beetle R were to reach production, it would have to slot in below VW’s new halo car.

Design flourishes on the 'R'. concept include wider bumpers and wheel arches, racing seats, four exhaust pipes and engine-cooling air intakesIt's. a fair assumption that given the Beetle shares a platform with a Golf, the Beetle R will be powered by the Golf R's. turbocharged 2.0-liter. 4-cylinder engine, which produces in the region of 270hp.

If you appreciate the styling of the 2011 Volkswagen Beetle, you’ll probably like the looks of the Beetle R even more.

If Britain’s Autocar is correct, the Beetle R will see production if there’s a positive reception for it in Los Angeles.

Since the VW Beetle shares a platform with the VW Golf, building a
Volkswagen Beetle R won’t require a significant amount of engineering.

2012 Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet

The 2012 Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet is all set to enter the car market and rock. It is expected to be available with a fabric roof and not a retractable roof.

This car is a perfect combination of technological advancement and utility
Like the more than 680,000 units of previous VW Golf cabriolets built, the new Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet also has a classic soft top - that is, a fabric top.

Although Volkswagen is using a fabric top on the Golf, the four-seater is one of the quietest of cabriolets. The results: the Golf Cabriolet actually sets new standards for acoustics in cabriolets.

Unlatching and latching of the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet's soft top is handled by an electromechanical locking system.

Rollover protection: Since 1979, when the first Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet was presented, all generations of this model series have had a roll bar. Body reinforcements: The Golf Cabriolet offers maximum all-round safety thanks to its rollover protection system, a reinforced windscreen frame and numerous other structural modifications (underbody, side panels, crossmembers, doors).

Due to its numerous reinforcements, the 4.25 metre long, 1.78 metre wide and (top up) 1.42 metre tall Golf Cabriolet also exhibits extreme torsional rigidity.

Cabriolet-specific airbags: The protective systems on the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet are completed by reinforcements in the doors and standard front and side head-thorax airbags.

Front end: Viewed from the front, this cabriolet is of course a typical Golf. Rear: The smoked LED rear lights were adapted from the three- and five-door Golf. When the soft top is down, the Golf Cabriolet has an elegant, extended look. As standard, the Golf Cabriolet leaves Volkswagen's Osnabrück factory with weight-optimised 16-inch steel wheels with attractive full wheel covers and 205 tyres.

Very clearly - the cabriolet version of the Golf follows the high styling and material quality standards of the classic hardtop Golf 1:1 in its interior. Redesigned features include the rear bench seat and seat upholstery materials.

Back in 1979, Volkswagen had already democratised open-top driving with the first VW Golf Cabriolet. The new Golf Cabriolet also embodies this philosophy.

At its market launch in Germany, the model starts at a price of 23,625 euros (VW Golf Cabriolet 1.2 TSI with 77 kW / 105 PS).

The price differential compared to the classically constructed "hard top" Golf is due to body reinforcements and the soft top activation system, including the sophisticated electro-hydraulic drive and active rollover protection system.

Standard exterior features: In front, the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet is equipped with chrome trim strips on the radiator grille fins, and at the rear it features smoked LED rear lights and a sports-style bumper.

Along with the classic individual extras, 7 preconfigured packs are available with the new Golf Cabriolet, each offering a bundled price advantage: the "Performance," "Design & Style," "Comfort," "Technology," "Light & Sight", "Mirror" and "Winter" packs.

Buyers of the new cabriolet can choose between the 2 packs "Performance" and "Design & Style."

Price: 415 euros. In 17-inch format, Volkswagen offers 3 wheel designs for the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet: "Seattle" (5 double spokes), "Porto" (10 spokes) and "Salamanca" (10 spokes).

Exterior paints: Buyers of the Golf Cabriolet can choose from 9 exterior colours at market launch. Seat covers: 9 different seat covers visually complement the exterior colours. The standard upholstery for the cabriolet is "Scout" in "Titan Black." "Vienna" leather upholstery in Cool Leather is available as an option in conjunction with the "Performance pack" in the Golf Cabriolet, which includes front sport seats.

The BlueMotion Technology pack is available as an option in this Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet version.

At the next power level, the new Golf Cabriolet is driven by an efficiently operating 1.4-litre TSI with 90 kW / 122 PS (at 5,000 rpm). (All fuel economy and driving performance data for the Golf Cabriolet 1.4 TSI with 122 PS cited in this press release are forecast values.)
This Golf Cabriolet covers the classic 0-100 km/h sprint in 10.5 seconds.

In both transmission versions, the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet with this engine reaches 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds; its top speed is 216 km/h.

At the highest power level, the Golf Cabriolet is driven by a 155 kW / 210 PS (at 5,300 rpm) TSI. The Golf Cabriolet 2.0 TSI covers the sprint to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.

The combined fuel consumption of the Golf Cabriolet 1.6 TDI plus BlueMotion Technology is just 4.4 l/100 (equivalent to 117 g/km CO2). In each case, the open-top Golf 1.6 TDI is the most fuel-efficient Volkswagen cabriolet ever.

Except for the TSI and TDI with 77 kW / 105 PS, all other engines of the new Golf Cabriolet may be combined with a dual clutch transmission (DSG).

It is either a 6-speed or 7-speed DSG, depending on engine torque values.

Here is something that hardly anyone knows: the first 'Generation I' prototype of the
VW Golf Cabriolet - like the new Golf Cabriolet - had no fixed roll bar.

2012 Volkswagen Tiguan Sports

The new VW Tiguan turned up earlier this year, looking for all the world like a mini-me VW Touareg.

If you opt for the interior R-Line package you’ll get sports seats in the front – finished in R-Line specific pattern – black headliner, aluminium pedals, a sports steering wheel and R-Line logos.

The R-Line exterior package can be combined with any of these colors: Candy white, Reflex silver metallic, Deep Black pearl effect, Night blue metallic and Pepper grey metallic.

The interior treatment adds a pair of sport seats up front, unique upholstery, a sports steering wheel, black roofliner, aluminum pedals, and R-Line logos.

There is new seat trim and Volkswagen's new steering wheel style, but the already-classy Tiguan interior has otherwise remained the same as the outgoing models.

Four engines are on offer - three petrol engines and a turbo-diesel - and prices range from $28,490 to $42,990.

All the new Tiguan SUVs now come standard with daytime driving lights, six airbags (front, front side and curtain airbags), safety-optimised front head restraints ABS brakes, an auto-hold function, brake-assist and electronic brake-force distribution.

Cargo capacity ranges from 395 to 1510litres.

The new Tiguan’s petrol engines are the sensational twin-charged 118kW/240Nm 1.4litre TSI, a 132kW two-litre TSI and the top-spec 155kW two-litre TSI that boasts 280Nm of torque.

Initially the front-wheel-drive 1.4litre TSI is a six-speed-manual-only model but a DSG transmission will become available next year.

The rest of the pack – the 103TDI, 132TSI and the 155TSI – run Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.

To enhance their fuel efficiency and exhaust cleanliness, both the front-wheel-drive 103TDI and the 118TSI versions use VW’s BlueMotion technology that includes a start/stop system and brake-energy recuperation.
