2012 Toyota RAV4

Of all the modern compact crossover models for 2012, the Toyota RAV4 remains one of the better picks its size for daily family-hauling needs.

All RAV4 models come with an automatic transmission—four-speed with the four-cylinder, five-speed with the V-6. In either case, the RAV4 is offered with either front- or four-wheel drive.

The interior of the 2010 Toyota RAV4 features an attractive two-tier instrument panel, good seats, a nice upright driving position, and plenty of storage spaces.

The third row officially expands the RAV4's capacity to seven, but you certainly won't have much luck trying to get adults to ride in the RAV4's third row.

Otherwise, well designed seating, good seating comfort, and top-notch assembly quality, along with a tight, quiet cabin, the RAV4 has covers all the bases.

The top Limited model can be optioned like a luxury model, with leather seating areas, heated front seats, and the SUV-requisite rear seat DVD entertainment system to keep the kids entertained.

Introduction
Expect sharper creases and some chunky styling cues from the FJ Cruiser and Toyota's trucks. We wouldn't rule out a hybrid RAV4 at some point, but the bigger news is the return of the RAV4 EV. We expect the 2
012 Toyota RAV4 EV to go on sale next year.

2012 Toyota Verso-S

The Toyota Verso-S offers front seat headroom, rear seat roominess and luggage capacity to rival that of C-segment cars. Also unique to the B-MPV segment and a Toyota first, a new, 6.1 inch, full colour, touch screen system, Toyota Touch, provides customers with a comprehensive multimedia interface.

As from May 2011, Toyota Touch & Go, a navigation system representing the best value for money on the market, will equip the Toyota Verso-S. Using a compatible mobile phone, via Bluetooth, the system offers on-board connectivity to Google Local Search. Designed by Toyota, Touch & Go is flexible and affordable.

The lightest and most fuel-efficient vehicle in the B-MPV segment, the new Toyota Verso-S offers customers a choice of a 1.33 litre dual VVT-i petrol engine or a 1.4 litre D-4D turbodiesel. Both engines offer class-leading fuel economy and CO2 emissions.

The aerodynamic efficiency inherent in the Toyota Verso-S's streamlined, monoform styling has been further improved through careful airflow management to reduce cabin noise, enhance fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.

The Toyota Verso-S has a long, 2,550mm wheelbase. Its wide opening front and rear doors give access to a spacious, practical and flexible interior.

Slim, WIL (Whiplash Injury Lessening) equipped front seats with a newly designed inner frame provide top-class knee room for rear seat passengers. The 60:40 split rear seats feature a centre armrest and a one-touch, fold-flat mechanism. The 760mm long loadspace floor incorporates a flexible, lightweight, dual-level deck board.

Unique to the B-MPV segment and a Toyota first, a new, 6.1 inch, full colour, touch screen multimedia system, Toyota Touch, provides customers with a comprehensive multimedia interface.

Toyota Touch also features a trip information screen incorporating comprehensive time, distance and fuel economy information, including instantaneous consumption, a fuel efficiency display and journey-by-journey fuel consumption comparison records.

A choice of manual or fully automatic air-conditioning systems is available. A fuel burning auxiliary heater is available for diesel engine models, once again boosting cabin warming performance when the engine is cold.2

Even entry grade models feature seven airbags, electric front windows, power steering, a 4 speaker radio/CD/MP3 player with USB port, VSC, ABS, EBD and BA active safety systems and the remote rear seat fold flat system, fitted as standard.

Mid grade models add the flexible loadspace floor, air-conditioning, a leather steering wheel and gear knob, and the new Toyota Touch multimedia interface. High Grade models further add automatic air-conditioning, the Smart Entry & Start System, an EC mirror, dusk & rain sensors, alloy wheels and electric rear windows.

Both engines are mated, as standard, to 6-speed manual transmissions. The 1.33 litre petrol engine may be equipped with an optional Multidrive, continuously variable transmission which features a 7-step, sequential paddle shift mode. Comprehensive weight saving measures make the Toyota Verso-S the lightest car in its class.

In addition to improving torque at low and medium engine speeds, the system also reduces emissions, and improves fuel efficiency by 2.7% in comparison to VVT-i.

The 1.33 litre petrol engine's optional Multidrive S transmission showcases Toyota's latest Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) technology. This compact, lightweight CVT system is one of the most fuel efficient automatic transmissions on the market. Multidrive S addresses this issue by incorporating Toyota's first CVT Flex Lock-up Control. It allows the engine to maximise fuel efficiency, whilst minimising vibration at even low vehicle speeds.

Multidrive S' advanced control systems incorporate several other new features to improve fuel efficiency and enhance the driving experience:
This minimizes torque waste, producing optimum acceleration from lower engine revs for improved fuel economy.
The CVT's Speed Ratio Control incorporates a number of systems to not only improve fuel efficiency but also enhance the driving experience.

Verso-S models fitted with the 1.33 litre Dual VVT-i petrol engine may be equipped with a Stop & Start system. This high power, maintenance-free system reduces engine start noise levels within the cabin, and seat vibration levels.

In E mode, the car makes automatic gear shifts that will maximise fuel economy. An Eco Driving Indicator is included in the instrument binnacle of Toyota Verso-S models equipped with Multidrive S transmission, helping drivers to realise an eco-friendly, low emission-style of motoring. Monitoring driving conditions, vehicle speed and throttle inputs, the system can help reduce fuel consumption by 0.5-3.0%, depending on driving styles.

The Toyota Verso-S benefits from a highly effective and super-compact torsion beam rear suspension.

The Verso-S's Electric Power Steering (EPS) offers variable assistance for maximum urban manoeuvrability combined with optimum weight and feel during high speed driving.

As a result it is quieter and achieves higher fuel efficiency than conventional hydraulic power steering systems.

Incorporating Electronic Brakeforce distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist, Traction Control (TRC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), the Verso-S is equipped with the latest ADVICS ADS-A2 and ADS-VP2 braking and stability systems. Offering shorter stopping distances and reduced rolling resistance, the tyres also contribute to lower fuel consumption, whilst their reduced vertical stiffness further improves ride comfort.

A front wing protector has been fitted between the wing and the front pillar to further reduce noise transmission to the cabin. Sound dampening and sound insulating materials have been extensively used throughout the cabin to lower noise and vibration, including within the front door pillar, front, rear and back door trim, deck side trim, headliner, roof side inner trim and floor carpet.

The body has been designed to efficiently disperse front, side and rear collision energy, helping to reduce cabin deformation.
To the rear, a bumper reinforcement and crash box absorb the collision energy of a rear impact.

The Verso-S incorporates numerous features to maximise its pedestrian protection performance. All Toyota Verso-S versions are equipped, as standard, with seven SRS airbags; driver and front passenger airbags, a driver's knee airbag, front side airbags and full-length side curtain shield airbags.
All front and rear seats feature three-point, ELR (Emergency Locking Retractor) seatbelts.

The Verso-S is fitted with Whiplash Injury Lessening (WIL) front seats to reduce whiplash injuries during rear end collisions.

The
Toyota Verso-S is fitted, as standard, with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Traction Control (TRC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC+).

2011 Toyota Highlander

Toyota has significantly revised its popular Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid crossover sport utility vehicles for 2011, giving them enhanced styling, additional standard amenities and new user technology.

Toyota’s solution to the common conundrum is the 28 mpg Highlander Hybrid, a full-size crossover with seating for seven, 4-wheel drive, and the ability to tow 3,500 pounds.

The gasoline/electric Highlander is powered by a version of Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive, best known for its use in the groundbreaking Prius. A continuously variable transmission transmits power from the hybrid powerplant to the front wheels.

EPA mileage estimates for both city and highway driving are 28 mpg. City matches highway mileage because of the capture of regenerative braking energy during urban driving. The Highlander Hybrid is available in two trim levels — base and Limited. An electric power steering system is employed for efficiency, but it tends to numb some of the feedback provided by traditional systems.

The 2011 Highlander is available in Base, SE and Limited grades in both two-wheel (2WD) and full-time four-wheel-drive (4WD). All Toyota Highlander Hybrid models are equipped with four-wheel-drive with intelligence and available in Base and Limited grades.

The Limited Grade offers stylish 19-inch wheels and also features silver roof rails. The SE grade gains a power liftgate.
Daytime running lamps are now standard on all Toyota Highlander models.

A standard 50/50 split third-row seat and manual rear climate control have been made standard for all 2011 models.

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid base grade offers a new Leather Package that includes leather-trimmed front seats with front seat heaters, leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, power moonroof, HomeLink®, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, plus an engine immobilizer with security alarm. The Toyota Highlander Hybrid Base grade gains standard easy-clean fabric seating, along with an eight-way power driver's seat, the Tech Audio, the third-row seat and manual rear climate control.

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid model's Hybrid Synergy Drive features a new, more powerful 3.5-liter V6 for 2011, replacing the previous 3.3-liter V6.

The system electronically varies front and rear torque distribution depending on traction conditions.
Base and SE Highlander models are equipped with standard 17-inch alloy wheels with 245/65 R17 tires; the Limited features standard 19-inch alloy wheels with 245/55 R19 tires.

All Toyota Highlander models are equipped with four-wheel disc brakes. On conventional Highlander 4WD models, full-time four-wheel drive is available on all V6 grades.
Toyota Highlander comes standard with Toyota's Star Safety System™.

This system integrates operation of enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Electric Power Steering (EPS) and the anti-lock brake system (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA).

Gasoline
Toyota Highlander models are also equipped with a straight-line steering feature. The Toyota Highlander Hybrid employs the advanced Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system. All Toyota Highlander models incorporate a corner-braking feature. Toyota Highlander comes standard with seven airbags. Additionally, all Highlander models are standard equipped with front active headrests.

The Highlander SE and Limited grades feature a standard backup camera with a 3.5-inch multi-information display; this feature is available for Base grade models for 2011 as part of the optional Tech Package.

2012 Toyota Camry

Are you, the car enthusiast, braced for the latest round of the Toyota Camry, 2012 edition?

You've seen, read about, and if our website views metrics system is working properly, gawked over Camry photos in impressive numbers.

Up first we had an LE four-cylinder, the sales volume king and one of Toyota's biggest coffer fillers.

Engaging the surprisingly stiff brake pedal from 60 mph hacks off 8 feet: 120 feet for the 2012 versus 2010's 128 feet. With increased torque converter lockup, it has the fuel economy figures to back the switch too: 25/35 mpg city/highway vs. the outgoing model's 22/32 mpg city/highway. Let's face facts: A comfortable ride, non-threatening exterior and interior design, 10 standard airbags, and low maintenance demands will do sales wonders.

Again, swapping the final drive to 3.458:1 (6.16 percent taller than 2011) helps with fuel consumption, netting 21/30 mpg city/highway (+1 city/+1 highway mpg).

At 3370 pounds, it's more than 200 pounds heavier than the four-cylinder LE, but completes the quarter mile in 14.2 seconds at 100.6 mph. The overall ride setup remains relatively soft and body roll awaits, despite its limited sporting intentions.

Leveraging nearly 30 years of Camry innovation and know-how, Toyota has created its most technologically advanced Camry ever€”a car that keeps up with American drivers' 21st century lifestyle.

The 2012 Camry is among the first Toyota vehicles to offer the award-winning in-car experience, Entune„¢. Are You?" campaign, created by Toyota's advertising agency of record, Saatchi & Saatchi LA, touts the reinvented Camry's class-leading innovations in safety, efficiency and intuitive mobile media technology.

An optional premium audio system adds a 5.8-inch touch-screen display.
Standard features include steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, keyless entry, air conditioning, antilock brakes, stability and traction control, tire-pressure monitoring, cruise control and a tilt steering wheel.
With the xD,
Scion has bucked the trend.

Current Scion xD
The Scion xD is a four-door subcompact hatchback that comes in one trim level. Like all Scions, the xD hatchback comes with an extensive standard features list and very few factory options. The standard features include full power accessories, remote keyless entry, air-conditioning, cruise control, antilock brakes (with brake assist), stability control, front seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. A navigation system is also available.
On the road, the Scion xD's 128-hp engine makes it more satisfying to drive than other cars in the class.

Used Scion xD
The current-generation Scion xD debuted for 2008 to replace the xA as the company's entry-level car. Apart from that and audio system upgrades for '10, the xD has been unchanged.

Toyota Sequoia

There have been two generations of the Toyota Sequoia.

Current Toyota Sequoia
The
Toyota Sequoia is a full-size SUV available in three trim levels: SR5, Limited or Platinum. Even base SR5 models are well equipped, with alloy wheels, a 40/20/40 second-row bench seat, triple-zone automatic climate control, a CD stereo with iPod connectivity, Bluetooth and full power accessories. The Limited adds leather upholstery, power front seats and an upgraded JBL sound system.

All Sequoia trims are available in either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

Thanks to an independent rear suspension (unlike its Tundra pickup platform-mate), the third-row seat folds flat into the floor, a welcome departure from the previous-generation Sequoia. In our reviews of the current
Toyota Sequoia, we've been impressed with its massive power (in versions powered by the 5.7-liter V8), surprising maneuverability and overall refinement. For a truck-based, full-size SUV, the Sequoia is an excellent choice.

Used Toyota Sequoia Models
The current
Toyota Sequoia represents the second generation, which debuted for 2008 with a base 4.7-liter V8 and five-speed automatic that were essentially carried over from the previous-generation Sequoia. The first-generation Toyota Sequoia full-size SUV debuted for the 2001 model year. Initially, its standard 4.7-liter V8 produced 240 hp and was mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Limited models were decked out with luxury items, but even base SR5 models had a decent collection of standard equipment.
