2012 Honda CR-V

The concept version of the 2012 CR-V made its debut at the Orange County International Auto Show back in September. Take away the smoked taillights and headlights, along with the skid plates, and the concept version of the CR-V is pretty much the new 2012 CR-V.

It looks like Honda has posted a smattering of teaser photos and desktop wallpapers–including a full front-three-quarter photo–of its upcoming CR-V to its Japanese site.

Underhood, it’s business as usual: Automotive News reports that base models will have a 2.4-liter inline-four-cylinder engine making 175 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque, while higher-trim models will get a new 2.5-liter L-4 with 201 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque.

With a more aggressive overall appearance enhanced by deeply sculpted sheet metal, the new CR-V is a looker.
Whenever you go more than safety, Honda CRV reviews got its security approach above widespread.

Dual-airbags regarding the entrance are supplied based on the style you'll get if you purchase this particular vehicle. Vehicle or truck security hasn't been specifically the same if this CRV continues to be delivered to the general public marketplace.

Honda CRV reviews relating to the outdoor layout developed congratulations when once again through managers and motorists. There has been media parts noticed the 2012 Honda CRV hatchback cross-over can get upgrading having its electricity and also effectiveness.

The brand new
2012 Honda CRV might be the Independence day era of the class. This type of vehicle in comparison to the earlier model is mentioned to expertise a a lot more potent powerplant which will assure an inferior energy intake.

2012 Honda Civic EU-Version

The Civic team led by Mitsuru Kariya, the 'Large Project Leader', were given the task to create and develop the new Honda Civic. The current Civic became the benchmark focus for their research to create a car that was even better.

The development period for the new Honda Civic spanned over four years. As research commenced, the development team for the new Civic team considered these key milestones achieved with the current Honda Civic and opted to maintain and even look to enhance the current Civic model qualities. The current Honda Civic had already achieved superior interior space with matching trunk capacity among its competitors.

The Civic development team turned to drivers, dealers and the media to evaluate the existing Honda Civic and define the essential 'must keep' features and qualities, as well as the priorities for the new model. Drivers were impressed with the driving experience, but noted that suspension noise could be reduced and ride comfort increased.

Research revealed that the typical Honda Civic driver is attracted to unique, fresh design with sporty performance and advanced technologies. The environment was defined as a high priority, with customers demanding high fuel economy and low emissions.

Initial ideas for the new Civic explored the realm of the car having a 'Lean Energetic' design. This design direction translated into a 'Clean-Dynamic' design concept.

The new Civic's cab forward design is highlighted by a reduced amount of side glass relative to the surface of the side body in particular reducing the rear window glass area. Contributing to the low and planted look is the way in which the body lines have been designed for the new Honda Civic.

(Noriyuki Ishii, Exterior Design Project Leader)
The face resembles the Honda 'DNA' and features new high and low beam HID projector-type lights. As in the current Civic, the rear design identity features strong horizontal elements which enhance the car's wide stance and strong road presence. On the new car the rear lights are placed on a higher level to ensure good visibility from following cars.

The current Honda Civic is known for its unique futuristic interior design and sporty exterior styling yet also with spacious and versatile interior. The feeling is of a car designed around the driver - the ultimate expression of Honda's 'man maximum, machine minimum' principle.

The Civic's wider and lower exterior form contains the roomiest interior of any C-segment car. It has 1431mm of shoulder room between driver and front seat passenger and 795mm of tandem distance (between driver and rear seat passenger).

A quiet car also helps make the occupants feel safer at high speeds, as well as reducing fatigue.

A new testing program was developed whilst evaluating the overall quietness of the new Honda Civic. The new Honda Civic also features a completely smooth leather steering wheel. A major challenge for the Honda Civic engineers was to improve the handling of the car.

Customer feedback suggested that the car's rear design could be more sophisticated and that rear visibility could be improved. With the new Honda Civic the designers managed to integrate the tail light clusters in to the rear spoiler making it a dominant feature of the car and at the same time providing improved rear visibility.

The chief goal in the engine and transmission development was to maintain the high performance driving experience whilst improving the overall efficiency of the engine resulting in lower running costs.

Featured on the Civic for the first time, ECO Assist optimises fuel efficiency by minimising the differences in fuel consumption caused by varying driving styles. ECO Assist also improves the efficiency of the air conditioning system. The Honda Civic's ECO Assist system has been extensively tested on city, extra-urban and motorway test routes to optimise its performance for European driving conditions.

The new 2.2-litre i-DTEC engine created for the Honda Civic tops the C-segment in its balance of performance and emissions management. Most importantly, the engine has been refined to reduce engine friction as much as possible.
Reduced balancer bearing clearance

Reduced friction:
Piston ring tension has been reduced
The high pressure fuel pump flow rate has been reduced
A new diesel engine oil has been introduced for improved fuel saving performance.

Fuel economy was further improved by implementing a low pressure fuel pump system to reduce power consumption and the ACG multi-stage control system using a battery monitor.
The Honda Civic's 1.4 litre SOHC engine also benefits from Honda's advanced VTEC technology for efficient fuel management. The engine also has the new Idle Stop system and receives the same upgrades as the 1.8 litre engine, including new, low-viscosity engine oil, improved catalyser material, ACG multi-stage control and an improved knock control system. A new piston coating has been applied to reduce friction, boosting performance and reducing fuel consumption.

The system has been specifically set and fine-tuned to contribute to the smooth, comfortable driving experience offered by the new Honda Civic.

In line with improvements throughout the powertrain, the Civic's compact and lightweight 6-speed manual transmission has been updated contributing to increased performance and fuel efficiency. Manual transmission models feature a Shift Indicator Light (SIL) function in the driver display area.

This system was developed exclusively for Civic 5-door customers and offers smooth, easy operation in line with the vehicle's overall development principles. The Honda Civic's front suspension and steering system have been completely revised to improve handling and stability.

Following Honda's launch of the exciting and dynamic new Honda Civic, Honda Access Europe announces a comprehensive range of Genuine Accessories to personalize and enhance the car. Perfect for the customer who wants to enhance Honda Civic's sporty looks!
Next to the existing Civic alloy wheels, four new designs have been created to give the Civic that superior look.

Designed and tested to match the
Honda Civic's bodywork, performance and towing capacity, a full-automatic detachable trailer hitch is available.

2011 Honda Jazz

To keep things fresh for Jazz fans, Honda has refreshed its sub-compact hatch with styling tweaks, new colours and extra equipment. The Jazz was affordable, practical and cute – healthy sales followed.

Will the 2011 facelift be able to maintain the Jazz’s place within the affections of NZ mums? Car and SUV belted into a 2011 Jazz 1.3S Sport to find out the answers.

The Jazz interior has also received updates with a new darker and more premium dashboard material. The unique controls layout remains the same for the new Jazz, while it looks unconventional it’s easy to learn and operate.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel houses audio controls and now trip computer and cruise controls on the Jazz 1.3S. One of the Jazz’s core strengths remains its space and practicality.

This rear seat reclines backwards, splits 60/40 for loading longer items and the base can be pushed up for loading tall items behind the front seats.

Available with a choice of 1.3-litre or 1.5-litre petrol engines our tested model sported the smaller 1.3-litre option. Dynamically the Jazz is competent, it’s agile when cornering and has enough grip through its front wheels to stay well settled.

General refinement is impressive in the Jazz with little wind or road noise entering the cabin. For safety the Jazz is much better aligned with its competitors now with stability control included. The Jazz also boasts a 5-Star NCAP crash test rating.

All up, it’s a commendable facelift for the Jazz despite a lack of any major mechanical updates. The styling tweaks are effective in modernising the Jazz shape and making it appear sleeker and sportier.

For the first time in the European Honda Jazz, leather seats are available as a factory fitted option.

The front seats don't need to be slid forward to give the rear seat sufficient clearance as it is folded down. In 'Utility Mode', Honda Jazz offers a perfectly flat load floor, a maximum 1720 mm in length, sufficient to swallow three 26 inch mountain bikes with front wheels still attached, stood upright. With seats folded the Honda Jazz boot capacity increases to 1320 litres of space when measured to the roof and excluding the underfloor storage.

To return the rear seats to a seating position, you simply lift the assembly back up; the seat bottom remains locked to the seat back and is simply released by pulling up the leg frame and the seat bottom folded down.

The practical Double-Trunk boot system is fitted to 1.4-litre Honda Jazz models with tyre repair kit, giving owners greater convenience and perfectly complementing the Magic Seats arrangement.

The suspension on the Honda Jazz has revised settings to increase ride comfort and improve handling.

To compliment the launch of the Jazz Hybrid model, the conventionally powered
Honda Jazz has also had some small reductions in CO2 values and improved fuel economy.

2012 Honda Civic

Now in its ninth generation, the all-new 2012 Honda Civic offers more style, performance and technologies.

Marketing Director, The Honda Place, Mr. Deepak Daryanani, disclosed this much at a press launch of the 2012 Honda Civic early in the week.

The ECON mode delivers enhanced fuel economy by automatically adjusting the function of the engine, air conditioning and other key systems that affect fuel efficiency.

These improvements, Deepak reiterated would make the 2012 Honda Civic a solid pick in the compact cars’ category.

The VTi model however adds leather upholstery, heated front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The Civic futuristic cockpit is similarly arranged to give the driver total control of important displays and controls which are located within reach – directly in front.

Talking safety, the 2012 Honda Civic comes with standard safety features that include stability control, antilock brakes, front-seat side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags.

The sporty Civic Si comes with a 201-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and six-speed manual transmission. Honda also makes a Civic hybrid priced at $24,050 and a natural gas-powered model that bases at $26,155.

I tested two nicely equipped Civics: an EX sedan with the automatic transmission that cost $20,505 and a $22,205 Si coupe. It’s a tribute to Honda’s engineers that the base Civic achieves good fuel economy with its engine and transmission. The Si offers the automatic headlights, but not voice-recognition.

2012 HONDA CIVIC:

Base price:
—Civic EX sedan: $15,605
—Civic Si: $22,205 for a coupe; $22,405 for a sedan
Price as tested:
—Civic EX sedan: $20,505
—Civic Si coupe: $22,205

2012 Honda Civic Model Lineup

The 2012 Honda Civic model lineup is comprised of:
Civic Sedan (Civic DX, Civic LX, Civic EX and Civic EX-L)
Civic Coupe (Civic DX, Civic LX, Civic EX and Civic EX-L)
High-efficiency and value-oriented Civic HF (new)
High-performance Civic Si Sedan and Civic Si Coupe
An advanced 140-horsepower, 1.8-liter i-VTEC® engine is standard in the Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe and Civic HF, with a choice of a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission (automatic only for Civic EX-L Coupe, Civic EX and EX-L Sedans, and Civic HF).

The Honda Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe, Civic HF and Civic Natural Gas benefit from an updated and refined version of the 1.8-liter I-4 engine that powered the previous generation Civic. In the Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe and Civic HF, the engine produces 140 horsepower at 6300 rpm, and 128 lb-ft. of torque at 4300 rpm.

Differences between models include aggressive front grille, front and rear fascias and other elements for the Civic Si Coupe and Civic Si Sedan, and extensive aerodynamic aids for the high fuel economy Civic HF.

Standard are 15-inch diameter steel wheels with full wheel covers, 15-inch aluminum wheels for the Civic HF, 16-inch aluminum wheels for the Civic EX and Civic EX-L models, and 17-inch aluminum wheels for the Civic Si.

All 2012 Honda Civic models (except for Civic DX) feature power windows with auto-reverse. Civic Hybrid and Civic Natural Gas have a fixed rear seatback.

Civic Si Coupe and Civic Si Sedan models add a unique Sunburst Orange Pearl, while the Civic Hybrid comes in Green Opal Metallic.

Civic DX Sedan, Civic DX Coupe and Civic LX - 15x6 steel wheels with full covers and P195/65R15 tires
Civic EX Sedan, Civic EX Coupe and Civic EX-L - 16x6.5-inch aluminum wheels and P205/55R16 tires
Civic Si Sedan and Civic Si Coupe - 17x7-inch alloy wheels and P215/45R17 (with available summer tires)
The Civic Coupe gains an increase in front shoulder room.

The Civic Coupe has gained 1.2 inches in front shoulder room. Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® control buttons are included in all models except Civic DX, Civic LX and Civic HF.

Cloth upholstery is standard in most Civic models, with Civic EX-L receiving leather seating surfaces. Like the previous generation Honda Civic, the 2012 model can accommodate five passengers.

The Civic Coupe has deeper side bolsters than the Civic Sedan, and the Civic Si further increases lateral support with firmer side bolsters.

To increase storage space, Civic DX, Civic LX and Civic HF models feature a one-piece folding rear seatback, while Civic EX, Civic EX-L, and Civic Si models feature a 60/40 split-folding rear seatback.

The Civic Hybrid and Civic Natural Gas have fixed rear seatbacks.
Power windows are standard equipment on all Honda Civic models.

2012 Honda Civic Si Sedan

A hybrid version, about $3,200 more than a similarly equipped EX, rates 44 mpg combined while the eco-minded HF is 33 combined. Most Civics come with five-speed automatics. Steering is light at parking speeds, weights up nicely on the road and the Civic tracks very well.

The DX/LX/EX sedans run from about $16,500 to $24,800 for an EX-L with leather, navigation and XM radio. Each version adds a layer of equipment and features, this EX getting a standard automatic, rear disc brakes, Bluetooth, ambient temperature indicator, six-speaker audio system and rear center armrest over an LX.

My only issue with this Civic is that for essentially the same money, Hyundai’s Elantra offers similar performance and economy, slightly less refinement and rear seat room, but comes with 17-inch wheels (not always a plus for rough roads or replacement costs), leather upholstery, a power driver’s seat, heated seats front and rear, and a base warranty longer by two years and 24,000 miles.

2013 Honda Civic Type R ‎

2002 Honda Civic Hatchback

All 2002 Honda Civic sedans and coupes feature a revised steering box for improved driving feel, added sound insulation and slightly tweaked suspension tuning. For 2002, there are three main trim levels: DX, LX and EX. Mid-level LX comes with air conditioning (includes a micron air filter), power windows and locks, cruise control and a cassette deck. There's also the natural gas-powered GX sedan, the high fuel-mileage HX coupe and the new Civic Si hatchback.

DX and LX are powered by a 115-horsepower 1.7-liter four-cylinder engine and are mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The engines in the GX, HX and EX are equipped with Honda's VTEC variable valve-timing system. VTEC allows the EX to make 127 horsepower. Later in 2002, Honda is set to offer a gasoline/electric hybrid Civic showcasing technology developed for the Honda Insight.

Honda S2000 Reviews

Roadsters tend to be narrowly focused on performance, sacrificing practicality in the name of merriment. CR stands for "club racer," denoting this model's track-specific tweaks for reduced weight and sharper handling. Second, while its 2.2-liter VTEC four does a credible impression of a racecar engine above 6,000 rpm, there's little power to speak of at lower engine speeds.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2009 Honda S2000 is a compact two-seat roadster that is available in two versions -- base and CR. The base S2000 includes a power convertible soft top with a glass rear window, 17-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights, leather upholstery, full power accessories, air-conditioning and a CD player.

The CR model is a racetrack-focused variant aimed at die-hard enthusiasts. The CR also receives some unsightly but effective aerodynamic spoilers, dark gray wheels with wider rear tires, even sportier suspension tuning, a quicker steering ratio, a sport-tuned muffler and fabric seats with suede inserts. Add it all up and the topless CR is 99 pounds lighter than the standard Honda S2000 (51 pounds lighter with the hardtop installed). Some of the base model's options are also available on the CR.

Powertrains and Performance A six-speed manual transmission relays this power to the rear wheels. Fuel economy checks in at an EPA-rated 18 mpg city/25 mpg highway and 21 mpg in combined driving. Driving Impressions Performance differences between the standard Honda S2000 and CR model are nearly indistinguishable on public roads.

2006 honda civic,Reviews

2006 honda civic has completely redesigned the Civic for 2006. The company has also improved the gas-electric IMA system for the Civic Hybrid and restored the Civic Si trim's potency with a 197-horsepower engine and a sportier coupe body style.

Introduction
All DX, LX and EX models are powered by a SOHC 1.8-liter, inline four-cylinder engine with Honda's i-VTEC system. The GX uses a natural gas-fueled version that makes 113 hp and 109 lb-ft. The previous Civic Si hatchback was a performance disappointment. For those interested more in fuel economy rather than 0-60-mph times, there's the Civic Hybrid sedan. Whichever model you choose, it's pretty hard to go wrong with the
2006 Honda Civic.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The
2006 honda civic is available as a sedan or a two-door coupe. There are also three specialty models: the Civic Hybrid sedan, Civic GX sedan and the Civic Si coupe. The front wheels of all DX, LX and EX models are powered by a 1.8-liter, inline four-cylinder engine. The 1.3-liter gas-electric powertrain found in the Civic Hybrid makes 110 hp and boasts the best fuel-economy figures of the Civic range -- 50 mpg for both city and highway with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Every
2006 honda civic comes equipped with antilock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and active front-seat head restraints. DX, LX, GX and Hybrid models have front disc/rear drum brakes, while the EX and Si have four-wheel discs.

The Civic's large dash features an unusual layout. Honda calls it a two-tier design.

2008 honda accord,Reviews

The 2008 honda accord has been fully redesigned for 2008. My, how the little Honda Accord has grown. Still available in sedan and coupe body styles, the all-new 2008 Honda Accord is most obviously highlighted by its slick new styling. Available on EX sedans and all coupes, the midlevel inline-four-cylinder produces a best-in-class 190 horsepower -- by comparison, the 1998 all-new Accord featured an optional V6 that produced 200 hp.

All that power comes at no fuel economy expense, as it matches the fuel economy estimates of the previous model's four-cylinder.
As a matter of fact, all
2008 honda accord engines get better highway fuel economy than the 125-hp 1990 Accord and even come close to the tiny 68-hp 1977 edition. The outgoing Honda Accord managed to hold its own against the recently redesigned Altima and Camry sedans, and the all-new Accord should make Toyota and Nissan sweat even more.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The
2008 Honda Accord is available in sedan and coupe body styles. The sedan comes in LX, LX-P, EX and EX-L trim levels, while the coupe comes in LX-S, EX and EX-L trims. The sedan's LX-P adds 16-inch alloy wheels, auto up-down front windows and a power driver seat. The EX adds 17-inch wheels and a sunroof to each body style's upgraded LX trim level. The EX sedan gains the in-dash six-CD changer, while the EX coupe gets a premium stereo system with subwoofer. The EX-L trim level adds leather upholstery, auto-on headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats and satellite radio. The EX-L sedan gains the premium stereo system, while the EX-L coupe gains the power driver seat.

The
2008 Honda Accord comes with a choice of powerful and fuel-efficient engines. The LX and LX-P sedans come with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that produces 177 hp and 161 pound-feet of torque. An upgraded version of that 2.4-liter engine that makes a class-leading 190 hp is standard on the EX sedans and all coupes. A five-speed manual is standard with the four-cylinder engines, with a five-speed automatic optional. The Accord's fuel economy is very impressive. Both four-cylinder engines with automatic transmissions achieve 21 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, while the six-cylinder with the automatic gets 19 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. All Accords come standard with antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags and full-length curtain airbags.

Driving Impressions
The
2008 Honda Accord maintains the car's traditional mix of both sporty handling and comfort.

2010 Honda Ridgeline,Reviews

The 2010 Honda Ridgeline's main attraction, however, is that 5-foot bed. While the Ridgeline is all the truck many pickup buyers will ever need, it's not for everybody. The standard all-wheel-drive system (there's no low-range gearing) and light-duty suspension make it unsuitable for serious off-roading.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2010 Honda Ridgeline midsize pickup truck is offered in a single four-door crew-cab body style with seating for five. The RTS adds 17-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver seat and an upgraded seven-speaker audio system with a six-CD changer and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls. The 2010 Honda Ridgeline is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 that puts out 250 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque. In testing, we recorded a 0-60-mph sprint of 9 seconds flat, which is slower than most other midsize V6 pickups as well as V8-powered full-size trucks.
The Ridgeline can handle payloads up to 1,550 pounds and tow trailers up to 5,000 pounds, both of which are a little below average for a V6-powered midsize pickup.

Safety
The Honda Ridgeline's list of standard safety features includes antilock disc brakes with brake assist, stability control, active front head restraints, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor.
In government crash tests, the 2010 Honda Ridgeline earned a perfect five-star rating for occupant protection in both frontal and side-impact crashes. The Ridgeline's interior gets high marks for passenger friendliness, with comfortable seats up front and above-average legroom -- at least by midsize pickup standards -- in back.

Driving Impressions
By pickup standards, the 2010 Honda Ridgeline is surprisingly pleasant to drive.

2010 Honda Pilot,Reviews

After a complete redesign last year, the 2010 Honda Pilot stands pat except for standard two-stage heated seats on the EX-L model and integrated rear window sunshades on the Touring.

Automotive names are often inscrutable, but the 2010 Honda Pilot's got a simple one. The trouble starts with the brakes -- the 2010 Honda Pilot required almost 150 feet of pavement to come to a halt in our instrumented 60-0-mph testing, which is a solid 20 feet or more behind rival crossovers. The 2010 Honda Pilot is a midsize crossover SUV offered in four trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L and Touring. The EX adds foglights, 17-inch alloy wheels, a power driver seat, an in-dash six-CD changer, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, tri-zone automatic climate control and satellite radio. The DVD system is the only option on Touring models.

The 2010 Honda Pilot is motivated by a 3.5-liter V6 that generates 250 hp and 253 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all Pilot models are available with an all-wheel-drive system that automatically apportions power to the rear wheels -- up to 70 percent -- when front slippage occurs.

Safety
Standard safety equipment includes stability control, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. In government crash tests, the Pilot performed flawlessly, scoring a perfect five stars in frontal and side-impact testing, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety likewise awarded the Pilot its top "Good" rating for both frontal-offset and side-impact crashes.
The 2010 Honda Pilot's interior layout is rugged-looking, in keeping with the boxy exterior.

Driving Impressions
A lack of low-end torque from the V6 makes the 2010 Honda Pilot feel rather flat-footed off the line.

2010 Honda Odyssey,Reviews

There are no significant changes to the 2010 Honda Odyssey. The current-generation Honda Odyssey has been around since 2005.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2010 Honda Odyssey is offered in four trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L and Touring. The EX trim level adds alloy wheels, power-sliding rear doors, roof rails, heated outside mirrors, automatic headlights, a power driver seat, a removable second-row center seat, a conversation mirror, automatic triple-zone climate control and a six-speaker audio system with an in-dash six-CD changer and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls.

The EX-L goes markedly upscale by adding a leather-trimmed interior, heated front seats, a power front passenger seat, a power liftgate, a back-up camera with a rearview-mirror-mounted display, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, satellite radio and a sunroof.

The 2010 Honda Odyssey
is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 244 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque (EX-L and Touring models get an additional boost of 5 pound-feet). This system allows those particular Odysseys to return an EPA-estimated 17 mpg city/25 mpg highway and 20 mpg combined -- a notable improvement over the base engine's 16/23/18.

Safety
The 2010 Honda Odyssey comes with standard safety features that include antilock disc brakes with brake assist, stability and traction control, active front head restraints, front-seat side-impact airbags and full-length head curtain airbags with a rollover sensor.

2010 Honda Odyssey
can be configured to seat seven or eight passengers, with the eighth occupant relegated to the removable PlusOne center seat in the second row on EX, EX-L and Touring models.

2010 Honda Insight,Reviews

The Honda Insight hybrid is back. Under the new Insight's hood is Honda's familiar Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid system. Notably, the gas engine's crankshaft never stops spinning, even when the Insight is operating solely on electric power, so there's no unseemly coughing or rumbling as the gas engine comes online.

With a starting price in the high teens, the Insight handily undercuts its crosstown rival's $22,000 base price, not to mention the Civic Hybrid's $23,550 cost of entry. The 2010 Honda Insight is a four-door hatchback available in base LX and uplevel EX trims. The EX adds alloy wheels, side-mirror-mounted turn signal indicators, stability control, cruise control, variable intermittent wipers, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and a six-speaker audio system with a USB port and a fully integrated iPod connection. The 2010 Honda Insight's hybrid system consists of a 1.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor paired with a nickel-metal hydride battery pack. According to Honda, EPA fuel economy ratings are 40 mpg city/43 highway and 41 combined.

All Insights come standard with antilock brakes (front disc/rear drum), front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags. However, the base Insight LX lacks stability control and traction control, which come standard on the EX.
Inside, the 2010 Honda Insight is a distinctive mix of familiar Honda design elements and edgy hybrid-themed flourishes. Toyota's roomy hybrid still trumps the Insight in this regard.

Driving Impressions
The words "hybrid" and "sporty" remain mutually exclusive at this modest price point, but the 2010 Honda Insight is by far the most enjoyable hybrid hatchback to drive.
