For the exterior specifications, the only unchanged dimension on the four-door sedan and five-door hatchback is that of overall length.

Cargo capacity has been increased in both body styles, although the sedan does have the edge in useful cargo space. New rear treatments also mean new taillights, bumper covers and everything else that goes into the rear fascia.

Dual-zone climate control is standard in the Limited trim on Canadian Imprezas.

2012 Subaru Impreza gets a modest price increase and a new top-of-the-line 2012 Impreza Sport Limited model that starts at $23,345, including shipping. The 2012 Impreza is also offered in 2.0i Premium, Sport Premium and Limited models, as the Japanese automaker takes the Impreza further upscale.

Subaru Australia is yet to officially confirm the introduction of the Subaru XV to the local range, but it’s a matter of when, not if, for the new crossover hatch.

Subaru Australia managing director, Nick Senior, said the new XV offers “a clear indication of Subaru’s design direction from now on”.

The Subaru XV features the same drivetrain as the new Impreza. The XV manual returns figures of 6.9 litres/100km and 160g/km respectively.
