The 2012 Hyundai Azera, which debuts at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, can no longer be the poor sister of the Hyundai lineup. The base 2011 Hyundai Azera starts at $26,270, including a $775 shipping charge.
Hyundai’s Azera near-luxury sedan represents a significant milestone in the brand’s history, as it was the very first Hyundai model to creep over the $30,000 price barrier. The Azera proved that Hyundai could compete on more than just a low price, and paved the way for later luxury models like the Hyundai Genesis sedan and the Hyundai Equus.
Like Hyundai’s other new designs, the Azera now features the brand’s “fluidic sculpture” design, which has helped the automaker sell a significant number of cars since it was launched on the 2010 Hyundai Sonata.
Like Hyundai’s other recent models, Hyundai did what it could to reduce weight wherever possible. From what we may tell, Hyundai will offer the 2012 Azera in base and Premium models.
Hyundai Azera's. Fluidic Sculpture design takes inspiration from the mechanics of flight. The 2012 Hyundai Azera offers first class seating assignments for all passengers. Leather seating surfaces are standard. Hyundai Azera's. climate and seat temperature controls keep occupants in total comfort.
The Hyundai Azera rides on a 112-inch wheelbase, with an overall length of 1933. inches and width of 73,2. inches. Hyundai Azera has best-in-class front head and leg room.
Hyundai engineers have developed an impact-reducing seat system for the Hyundai Azera. This seat system eliminates the need for active front head restraints and is expected to reduce head and neck injuries by 17 percent above the front seats in the previous generation Hyundai Azera, which had active front head restraints. Hyundai Azera has a Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system, which optimally manages ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and the Motor-Driven electric Power Steering (MDPS).
Hyundai Azera features nine airbags including dual front, front and rear seat-mounted side-impact, front and rear side curtain airbags and a driver's. knee airbag.
Powering the all-new 2012 Azera is Hyundai’s Lambda II 33L. GDI V6. With the help of direct injection, extraordinarily high-pressure fuel injection and Hyundai embracing the classic saying, “there’s no replacement for displacement,” the Azera churns out 293-hp and 255 lb-ft of torque
The first official images of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe surfaced online last week, ahead of the car’s world debut at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show in January.
Starting with the base 20-liter. four-cylinder engine, peak output has been lifted to 271 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. The 38-liter. V-6 meanwhile gains 39 horsepower and 29 pound-feet of torque above the pre-facelifted Genesis Coupe, with its final figures pegged at 345 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
In. Korea, Hyundai told both engines may be ordered with either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic.
Hyundai has also confirmed that the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe gets an upgraded 38. liter V6 now with 350 hp. The new Genesis Coupe is probably the cheapest way of getting 350 hp, an eight-speed transmission, and rear-wheel-drive.
November 9, 2011 – Oxnard, Calif. – Oxnard Hyundai is excited to confirm, Hyundai Motor America’s CEO John Krafcik confirmed the automaker is planning a turbocharged Veloster.
The 2013 Veloster Turbo is scheduled to Debut at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show in January.
According to Hyundai, a 16-liter. turbocharged engine will power the Veloster. Oxnard Hyundai is proud to serve the greater Ventura County.
Hyundai Motor America CEO John Krafcik announced the car tonight at an event on the eve of the 2011 SEMA show in Las Vegas.
Krafcik promised the car would debut at the 2012 Detroit auto show in January alongside a face-lifted Genesis coupe. If the 204-hp number proves accurate, that would place the top-dog Veloster precariously close to the base Genesis coupe's. 210-hp figure.
At the SEMA Show Hyundai does have plans to unveil a turbocharged Veloster, but it won’t be a production car. Built by ARK Performance, the race-inspired tuner car (above) will, however, sport a 210-hp twin-scroll turbocharged 16-liter.
Korean automaker Hyundai is getting ready to take direct aim at the 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid with its scheduled-to-launch-in-2013 Hyundai i30 gas-electric with a plug, according to a report from German news outlet Auto Motor und Sport
Although Hyundai has previously stressed that hybrids and electric cars wouldn’t play a major part in its portfolio, hybrids are an undeniable image booster and plug-in hybrids are exempt from congestion charges in major urban centers like London.
Designed and engineered at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre in rasselsheim, Germany, the new-generation Hyundai i30 represents a further evolution of the unique Hyundai ‘fluidic sculpture’ design featuring the hexagonal-shaped grille and offers a choice of four engines with a total of six power options and CO2 emissions below 100 g/km thanks to an upgraded, super-efficient 1,6-litre diesel unit.
The new-generation Hyundai i30 will go on sale in Europe early in 2012 as a five-door hatchback. Every new-generation Hyundai i30 will be backed by the industry-best, fully-transparent Five Year Triple Care warranty from Hyundai.
Hyundai expects the new-generation i30 to maintain this growth trend, contributing to future sales success, growing brand awareness and improving perceptions of Hyundai among European consumers.
The new-generation Hyundai i30 also bears Hyundai's signature frontal feature - the hexagonal-shaped grille.
Overall, Hyundai is expecting a 50:50 split between diesel- and gasoline-powered Hyundai i30 sales.
For example, the new-generation Hyundai i30 can be specified with Hyundai's 1,6-liter 'Gamma' GDI (gasoline direct injection), a 1.591 cc unit that generates 135 ps and 164 Nm of torque.
The generous equipment levels on the new-generation Hyundai i30 will enhance the Hyundai experience for passengers too.
Since going on sale in 2007, the original Hyundai i30 has played an important role in expanding Hyundai's sales and reputation in Europe's fleet sector. Hyundai expects the new-generation i30 to be even more popular with fleet managers and company car drivers than its predecessor.
When the Hyundai Tucson debuted for the 2005 model year, it represented Hyundai's first entry in the long-established small SUV segment.
Current Hyundai Tucson The five-passenger Hyundai Tucson is a car-based compact SUV. The Tucson is available in GL, GLS and Limited trim levels. The GLS adds alloy wheels, roof rails, cruise control and Bluetooth, and all-wheel drive versions get heated front seats. Available options include a navigation system and rearview camera. In reviews, we've appreciated the Tucson's combination of style, sophistication and sharp road manners.
Used Hyundai Tucson Models The current, second-generation Hyundai Tucson debuted for the 2010 model year. The first-generation Tucson was produced from 2005-'09. Every first-generation Hyundai Tucson had antilock brakes, stability control, front seat-mounted side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags.
The base GL was powered by a 140-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to either a five-speed manual (mandatory on AWD models) or a four-speed automatic transmission. Standard equipment included four-wheel disc brakes, alloy wheels and heated outside mirrors. The top-shelf Limited model boasted items such as a sunroof, leather seats, automatic climate control and an upgraded audio system.
Hyundai 2012 Veloster. Of the off-the-wall or unique cars available (Nissan Juke, VW Beetle, MINI Cooper,Fiat 500, Scion tC, etc.), I like the Juke for its optional AWD and impressive turbocharged engine; and the Veloster I like for its useable rear bench and affordability.
There is no bad angle to this car. Seriously, for $18,999, your grubby, misshapen PS3 fingers will meander across the cabin and come in contact with a 7” high-res LCD touchscreen, an AM/FM/XM/CD/MP3 6-speaker stereo with iPod/AUX/USB inputs and Gracenote (iPod album cover art and advanced voice recognition), Bluetooth (very easy connection), push-button start and rear-view camera.
For an extra $3,500, you'll add to that list a navigation system, bigger wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a Dimension 8-speaker premium audio system and other niceties.
Steve Kelleher isn’t your average car company president. A three-door coupe configuration — a driver’s side door, one large door and one small door on the passenger side — the Veloster is unlike anything currently available in Canada, though close competitors include the Honda CR-Z and the Scion tC, and the Fiat 500 and Mini as secondary competitors.
“This is a halo car for Hyundai,” Kelleher continued. Hyundai 2012 Veloster might not consider this to be the replacement of its sporty Tiburon, but in terms of sleek and aggressive styling, the Veloster returns those design cues to the Hyundai stable. Underscoring Kelleher’s comments about the “halo” positioning of the new coupe is the optional 6-speed dual clutch transmission, the first DCT developed by Hyundai.
Meaning sporty shifts and performance, and improved fuel economy. What Hyundai Canada has discovered is that unlike horsepower-mad, status symbol-driven Baby Boomers, Gen Yers’ top priorities when it comes to a vehicle are technology and efficiency.
The Hyundai 2012 Veloster has that latter point covered with its price points — $18,999 for the base model and $22,499 for the Technology Package— and its excellent fuel economy. Style: Front-wheel drive three-door coupe Seats: Four Engine: 1.6-litre 4-cylinder (138hp) Transmissions: 6-speed manual; 6-speed dual clutch automatic Fuel Economy (manual/dual clutch): 7.2 city/4.9 hwy L/100km; 7.0 city/4.9 hwy L/100km Price: $18,999 (base); $22,499 (Tech Package).
For 2012, the Hyundai Genesis coupe gets more power and a mild styling refresh. Introduction
More muscle is always welcome in the sport coupe segment, and the Genesis coupe sees higher output for both the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 (2.0T models) and the 3.8-liter V6 (3.8 models). Both automatics also offer manual gearchange capability.
The 2012 Hyundai Genesis coupe is set to debut early in 2012 at the Detroit auto show. After yesterday’s confirmation from Hyundai Australia that the next-generation Hyundai Genesis Coupe will make its way to our shores, images taken by a Hyundai employee have been leaked online showing the face of the new 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. The headlights for the next-generation 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe feature a more complex design, with separate coves and sharper angles for different segments of the headlight cluster and separate bulbs.
The 2011 Hyundai Elantra has been fully redesigned, with an attractive design, new features, an efficient 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and new six-speed transmissions.
What do the life stories of Cinderella and the Hyundai Elantra have in common? For the fully redesigned 2011 Hyundai Elantra sedan, that moment is now. Beneath that dolled-up exterior, the new Elantra sports a new 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.
Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options The 2011 Hyundai Elantra is a compact sedan that's offered in two trim levels. The GLS base model comes standard with 15-inch steel wheels, heated mirrors, keyless entry, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, trip computer, full power accessories, a tilt-only steering wheel and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio and an iPod/USB audio interface.
Options for the GLS include the Popular Equipment package that adds 16-inch steel wheels, air-conditioning, cruise control and a telescoping steering wheel. EPA estimates are 29 mpg city/40 mpg highway and 33 mpg combined.
The 2011 Hyundai Elantra's list of standard safety features includes traction and stability control, antilock disc brakes, active front head restraints, front seat side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags that cover both rows. In Edmunds brake testing, an Elantra Limited needed 125 feet to stop from 60 mph -- a good distance for the segment.
Interior Design and Special Features The 2011 Hyundai Elantra features a large trunk with 14.8 cubic feet of cargo room, a generous number for this segment.
Driving Impressions Compared to last year's car, this new Elantra is more fun to drive.
The 2012 Hyundai Veloster is an all-new hatchback model. Introduction Unlike the small access-style door found on the Mini Cooper Clubman, the Veloster's third door is a normal, front-hinged door; the exterior door release has been disguised to help keep the coupe look intact.
The front-wheel-drive Veloster will be powered by a 1.6-liter direct-injected inline-4 that's good for 138 horsepower.Hyundai Veloster is projecting a 40 mpg highway rating.
The new hatchback - uniquely configured with one driver door and two passenger doors - is parked on the low end of the model range, promoted as a compact coupe offering fun-to-drive chassis dynamics, a long list of standard innovative technology and hybrid-beating fuel economy in one cool-looking package.
2012 Hyundai Veloste (Rumor says that nobody outside Hyundai's inner circle has driven the Veloster and lived to talk about it.) While the exterior features more than handful of complex curves, from the cutout containing the standard LED running lamps to the lower bodyside door sculpture, Hyundai has still found room for its familiar high beltline A-line crease running from the front fender through the door handle.
First, let's talk about those doors. From the driver's side, the Veloster appears to be a coupe, with one large traditional entry door. The door opens and closes independent on the front passenger door - it is not a smaller "suicide" access door like those of the Mazda RX-8 or the Mini Clubman. To open the rear hatch, just find the handle conveniently hidden under the rear badge. Hyundai says the Veloster's total interior volume beats the current-generation Scion tC, Honda CR-Z, Mini Cooper hardtop and Mini Clubman, and we believe them.
We begrudgingly settle our six-foot, two-inch frame into the front passenger seat of the white Veloster - we want to be driving - with Krafcik (five-foot, ten-inches) at the wheel. Fellow Autoblog associate editor, Jeff Glucker (six-foot, three-inches) occupies the right rear seat.
2012 Hyundai Veloste reiterates that the design of its Veloster is inspired by high-performance sport bikes. The four-passenger Veloster (there are cup holders in the center of the rear bench) accommodates his frame nicely when the front passenger seat is moved up a few inches.
We depart the parking lot of Hyundai's Orange County headquarters and he immediately puts his right foot to the floor. In an attempt to demonstrate the Veloster's handling, Krafcik swerves abruptly left, right, left and then right again.
Most everyone, including Hyundai, brings up the old Honda CRX when discussing the Veloster. The Hyundai Veloster will likely deliver performance numbers comparable to the performance-oriented CRX Si of yore, but with much more interior room, refinement and better fuel economy – all while meeting much more stringent safety standards and offering a back seat.
Hyundai Accent started selling cars here in America in 1985. If you see a little—okay, more than a little—of theFord Fiesta's “Kinetic” form vocabulary in the Hyundai Accent’s “Fluidic Sculpture” styling, you’re not alone.
Between the Accent’s two body styles (a four-door sedan and a five-door hatchback; the entry-level, three-door Accent is discontinued for 2012) are three unique trim levels: GS and sport-flavored SE trims are hatchback-only, while Accent sedans come only in GLS guise. Regardless of trim level, all Accents are loaded up with safety equipment, including front, front-side, and front and rear side-curtain airbags; four-wheel disc brakes; and stability control.Gamma Arrives It also helps that 2012 Hyundai Accent kept the Accent’s claimed curb weight to around 2400 pounds regardless of body style. Still the Cheapest, but Don’t Call it Cheap
Hyundai Accent says that it will hold 2012 Hyundai Accent prices to 2011 levels—a feat aided by the use of a carry-over platform—which means that the Accent could remain America’s cheapest car at under $11K. That is, if none of the Korean maker’s competitors undercut that price before the Accent arrives this summer. Still, even if something does “out-cheap” the littlest Hyundai in price, it’s not likely to match the Accent’s impressive power, feathery weight, and available features. In the Hyundai Accent, Hyundai should have an inexpensive car it can be proud to sell—for cheap.
