2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept
Land Rover was the first car manufacturer to produce a coupe SUV. Later, Nissan created the Murano Convertible, the first convertible SUV. Land Rover decided to also give it a shot in the Convertible business by revealing a new concept – the Land Rover Evoque Convertible.

Land Rover’s plans for its Range Rover Evoque are far from finished, with the automaker announcing an Evoque convertible concept that will be revealed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

Land Rover notes the convertible concept was developed with the manufacturer’s offroading DNA at heart, and has been equipped with Land Rover’s Terrain Response system and a rollover protection system.

Reading University student Simon Truscott snapped the Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet in a London alley, apparently catching it in the midst of a photo/video shoot. You'll find a press release with Range Rover's official statement after the jump.

2011 Land Rover DC100 Sport Concept

Two new Land Rover concepts have been unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, named DC100 and DC100 Sport, illustrating the development of a new Land Rover Defender due to be launched in 2015.

The Land Rover DC100 and DC100 Sport embody the flexibility, adaptability and configurability attributed to Land rover.

The Land Rover DC100 concept demonstrates the future of Land Rover capability and versatility, while the DC100 Sport expresses freedom and leisure.

The Land Rover DC100 and DC100 Sport concepts preview a potential future direction for Land Rover. Every Land Rover design starts with great proportions, and these concepts are no exception.

DC100 Sport represents a more assertive, performance-oriented interpretation of this classic Land Rover look.

As a dependable all-terrain workhorse, DC100 firmly emphasises the practical side of Land Rover.

With DC100 Sport, Land Rover has created a unique concept that occupies its own territory.

Like the original Land Rovers, the DC100 concepts have a central instrument binnacle mounted above the gear lever.

As with any Land Rover, both DC100 designs have towing and load-carrying capabilities that exceed expectations but use two different and well-proven Land Rover suspension systems specifically tailored to their distinct performance parameters.

Land Rover has adopted Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to increase the accessibility, usability and security of the concepts.

2012 Land Rover Defender,New

The roots of the Land Rover Defender can be traced back to 1948 when Land Rover vehicles established themselves as the most capable and rugged off-roaders in the world.

The
2012 Land Rover Defender will get a new Euro 5 compliant 2.2 liter diesel engine. The new engine has lower emissions than the old engine courtesy a diesel particulate filter (DPF). The six-speed gearbox has been retained from the outgoing defender. The other optional pack is called the off-road pack.

Land Rover's utilitarian off-road SUV became known as the Defender Ninety and Defender One Ten in 1985, with the numbers respectively representing the two- and four-door models' wheelbases (rounded to the nearest 10). Of course, this is the history of the Land Rover Defender in the United Kingdom and elsewhere in the world.

Most Recent Land Rover Defender
The two-door
Land Rover Defender 90 was sold for 1994, 1995 and 1997. There were two body styles available. The hardtop body style debuted in 1995 featuring an aluminum roof with pop-up sunroof, an internal/external "safari cage" and four center-facing rear seats. For 1997, Land Rover fitted the Discovery's 4.0-liter aluminum V8 that yielded 182 hp and 233 lb-ft of torque into the Defender. (Even to this day, the thoroughly updated Defender sold elsewhere doesn't have them.) The Land Rover Defender 90 does the job it was intended to do well.

Other off-road specialists like the Jeep Wrangler will probably suit your trail needs just as well as the Defender at a lower price, although none boast the Land Rover's British pedigree.

Past Land Rover Defender Models

In 1993, Land Rover sold 500 units of the four-door Defender 110 in the United States. Featuring a stretched version of the later two-door model's frame, it featured a wheelbase that surpassed that time's Range Rover.

Phil Popham, Land Rover Managing Director

A new, class-leading V8 diesel engine, new 8-speed transmission, two significant Terrain Response® upgrades and subtle external styling all combine to ensure the 2011 Range Rover retains its crown as king of the luxury SUV segment.
The LR-TDV8 4.4-litre with parallel sequential turbocharging replaces the outstanding LR-TDV8 3.6-litre and is unique to the Land Rover Range.

To reflect the performance of the new 4.4-litre LR-TDV8, diesel models are fitted with the same Brembo-based braking system fitted to the 5.0-litre LR-V8 supercharged model. For 2011, the Land Rover Range retains the same class-leading 5.0-litre LR-V8, supercharged petrol engine married to the ZF HP28 6-speed automatic transmission introduced in 2010. Developing 510PS and 625Nm torque the Supercharged LR-V8 will take the Range Rover from 0-60mph in a breath-taking 5.9 seconds.

2011 Land Rover LR4,Reviews

The LR4 is a mid-range Land Rover with a $60,000-plus price tag and seating for up to seven passengers. Land Rover follows up for the 2011 model year with enhancements to its already outstanding Terrain Response system, reconfigured option packages and a new Vision Assist Package.

On the road the LR4’s air suspension is super comfortable and you ride in roomy, luxurious cabin that’s literally “fit for a King or Queen”.

High torque is provided across most of the engine’s speed range and this helps make the LR4 a pretty good tow vehicle. Power goes to all four wheels through an electronically controlled 2-speed transfer case. The LR4 comes with what’s probably the most user-friendly four-wheel-drive system on the market, Land Rover’s Terrain Response System (TRS). The LR4 almost drives itself.

My test Land Rover LR4 came with the HSE Lux Package ($10,800), which comes with a standard rear-view camera and headlights with LED Signature Lighting (photo).

It also came with the new Vision Assist Package, which includes: Adaptive Front Lighting System (swivelling HID headlights), Automatic High Beam Assist, a Surround Camera System, power-folding mirrors and Trailer Assist.

The made in UK the Land Rover LR4 is still known in most of the world as the Land Rover Discovery. The tall two-box shape is mostly about function over style, yet it’s distinctively Land Rover. My test LR4 came with two foldaway seats in the rear that expand seating capacity to seven. The Vision Assist Package includes Automatic High Beam Assist. This system automatically switches on the headlights in low light conditions and it automatically switches to the low beams to avoid dazzling drivers in oncoming vehicles. It’s designed to make the LR4 easier to park, hook up a tow hitch or manoeuvre off-road.

The air suspension in the Land Rover LR4 is a great feature. You sit tall in the driver’s seat of the LR4 and a conveniently extra wide and flat window ledge is at elbow level.

A classy and technically sophisticated SUV, the Land "Rover LR4" possesses exceptional off-road capability, yet it’s also a pleasure to drive, or ride in, on a paved highway.
