2012 Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Concept

2012 Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Concept

The Volvo XC60 Concept is a plug-in hybrid electric car, a hybrid extremely cheap and powerful vehicle for high performance in each.

"Technology is the Plug-in Hybrid Concept XC60 is as brilliant as it is unique," said Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation.

Pure Power Hybrid - three cars in one
The driver selects the drive mode via three buttons on the dashboard. I give the car keys three different temperaments: Pure, Hybrid and Power.

Pure the car only by its electric motor power as much as possible. With the certification standards of the United States, emissions from electricity generation, fuel consumption in the continuous driving time is 50 mpg combined. The gasoline engine with 280 hp and 380 Nm (280 Nm) electric motor with 70 hp and 200 Nm (148 Nm) combined.

Four-cylinder with the same performance as a six-cylinder
The front wheels of the Volvo XC60 Concept plug-in hybrid from a four-cylinder turbo gasoline VEA neighbor (Volvo Environmental Architecture) family of engine power. The concept car is wearing a distinctive "T8", which emphasizes the combination of high performance 350-hp

four-cylinder engine and an electric motor.
fuel consumption up to 35 percent improved engines of similar power.

Integrated Starter Generator
The engine of the Volvo XC60 Concept plug-in hybrid does not have the conventional starter and alternator.

Charge the battery at home
The back of the Volvo XC60 Concept plug-in hybrid is powered by an electric motor of 70 hp. It also means that more power is available to drive the car.

Power four-wheel drive
The electric four-wheel drive Volvo XC60 in Plug-in Hybrid Concept is activated by pressing the AWD (All Wheel Drive) button. Instead of conventional power drive wheel mechanical power transmission between the control unit distributes power to the front wheels engine and rear axle with electric drive. If saving is enabled, the generator and the upper parts of the battery if necessary.

2013 Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid

2013 Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid
There are many hybrids on the market, but none of them can compete with the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid. First plug-in diesel hybrid world of Volvo Car Corporation is the most technologically advanced than ever - an electric car, hybrid cars and muscle cars, all in one. At the touch of a button you can choose the three you want to drive your car at some point.

The production version of the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid will be launched in a single color in your life - Electric Silver.
Sales are under way in early 2012 and the first cars will be built in the fall.

"He's our plug-in hybrid has received considerable attention since it was presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2011. Now, we take the next step, the production version, which is decorated with a unique profile with a medal
silver spectacular, is a unique interior and generous standard equipment, "said Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation.

The first units of the 1000 Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid electric only available in silver.
The car is also available from the aero-designed 17-inch wheels, integrated tailpipes and a set of shiny black body, as the grille and aerodynamic spoiler.

The chrome "plug-in hybrid" badge will be located on the bottom of the tailgate and a smaller version on the front wings.

Exclusive Interiors
The interior of the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid has black leather upholstery with contrasting stitching and wood inlays, blue-gray. Other details of the interior of a large, leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob and a special pad integrated turn signals.

The list of standard equipment include features such as steering speed-sensitive, electrically adjustable driver seat, front and rear sensors for parking, Bluetooth phone connection and Volvo On Call.

Standard is high performance multimedia DVD-Audio 4x40 watts amplifier with its system, eight speakers and a seven-inch.

Smartphone App
The plug-in hybrid V60 is the first Volvo to start with a monitor driver information fully digital (Sun). Traditional analog gauges offer through one piece LED display a variety of display options have been replaced. The driver can choose to show what additional information on the car setup menu.

E 'can also communicate with the vehicle via a mobile application.
This gives the owner access to a multitude of intelligent features such as air conditioning, pre-cooling and after cooling, and a memory connected to the charger if it has not been done by a predetermined time.
The first Volvo D6 with the badge

On the tailgate, there is a characteristic of self-D6.
The reason for this is that the combined power of the engine and five-cylinder turbo diesel engine and electric motor, the machine detects the same performance range as gasoline T6.

The front wheels of the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid from a five-cylinder-2 ,4-liter turbo diesel 215 hp and maximum torque of 440 Nm driven.
The car has a six-speed automatic transmission.

The rear axle is driven by an electric motor of 70 hp.
The electric motor has an installed capacity of 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery under the floor of the hold.

The stylish and compact battery consists of 10 modules of 20 cells.
An integrated computer system that monitors and compares the temperature and charge state in each of 200 cells. The battery has an integrated cooling water from air units self-guided.

Three driving modes - one in three cars
The driver selects the desired shooting via three buttons that give the car, three completely different temperaments: Pure, Hybrid and Power.

Pure mode the car only by its electric motor power as much as possible.
If the battery is recharged with electricity from renewable energy sources once, is its range of up to 50 km and emissions of carbon dioxide are zero. The electric field varies with the style of the soil, climate and driving.

Hybrid is the default when the machine is started.
The diesel engine and electric motor work together to ensure an optimal balance between driving pleasure and environmental footprint. CO2 emissions (NEDC, combined driving cycle for the certification) is 49g/km that the fuel consumption of 1.9l/100km. The car has a total range of up to 1,000 km.

Power mode, the technology is optimized for maximum performance of the car.
The diesel engine and electric motor has an output of 215 hp and 70 with a maximum torque of 440 Nm electric motor 200 is the contribution of the instantaneous torque, the car accelerates from 0 to 100km / h in 6.2 seconds.

Save the batteries for the next
The driver can choose to save the life of the battery, to focus on pure electricity as a result of the disk, like green or in an urban area in the heart of a city.

If saving is enabled, the embedded system ensures there is always enough power to feed later in the Pure mode.
If necessary, the high voltage generator to the battery, so there is sufficient capacity to conduct Pure mode.

The goal is saving mode must ensure there is enough battery power for about 20 km of electric power alone.

Download at home - in the pre-cooling or heating
The Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid can be a normal wall socket (230V/6A, 10A or 16A) is charged at home or in a parking lot again. The charging time depends on the amperage. A full charge takes 4.5 hours with 10A. It is cut to 3.5 hours with 16A, 6A, while a charge requires 7.5 hours.
It is also possible to offer while recharging the car to heat or cool the interior of a comfortable home for the holidays. It also means that more electricity is used for the actual conduct of the car.

Preconditioning can also be used to cool the batteries.
The ideal temperature for the battery is 20-30 ° C. This means that cooling is very important before driving to maximize independence, and therefore large.

The plug-in hybrid Volvo V60 is equipped with two heating systems.
In the electrical operation of the vehicle is warming (positive temperature coefficient) of PTC. The car also has a diesel heater.

Better able to withdraw all-wheel drive (AWD)
Pressing the button activates the power-AWD four-wheel drive. Instead of conventional power drive wheel mechanical power transmission between the control unit distributes power the diesel engine to the front wheels and rear axle with electric drive. The electric drive system with four wheels has been developed to provide a better grip on startup and when driving on slippery roads, as in snow or mud.

However, due to the lower power the electric motor, the torque is limited to the rear wheels and all-wheel drive is enabled up to 120 km / h.

When all-wheel drive is activated, the diesel engine runs continuously and the generator ensures that the battery level is sufficient to provide the rear axle with the necessary energy.
The electric four-wheel drive is activated by the pilot, if necessary, is cheaper than the traditional four-wheel drive.

A braking system Two-stage
A two-tier system of intelligent braking is another feature of the Volvo plug-in hybrid. When the driver presses the brake pedal, the brake system of the rear axle of the electric motor. This energy is then used to brake the car to recharge the battery.
The mechanical brakes are activated only when the situation needs to provide more stopping power than the rear.

Great interest that the first round of the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid will sell like hot cakes
Volvo Car Corporation is about to introduce the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid - a car battery diesel hybrid that the company is the most technologically advanced ever.
Production is underway in November 2012 and the first model in volume this year is limited to 1000 copies. You will be offered with pure specifications Limited, whose highest level of finish Summum.

The price for the first plug-in hybrid with a diesel engine is equal to 57 000, depending on the particular market.

"There is great interest in the market.
We believe that the first thousand cars are sold even before production will come next fall, "said Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation. He adds:
"With the V60 plug-in hybrid, we are strengthening our leadership in the electrification. None of our competitors can offer its customers a brilliant car. Increases hybrid technology to a new level. "

The Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid is the result of close cooperation between Volvo Cars and Swedish utility Vattenfall.
The development project was funded jointly by the two companies.
"We are proud to launch this unique car with Volvo. The plug-in hybrid confirmed that electricity is the fuel for the transportation future, "says Øystein loses, CEO of Vattenfall.

The largest Nordic market
After the first batch of 1000 cars 2013 model year, production of the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid car model year 4000 to 6000 to 2014, has increased.
About 30 percent of the total will go to Sweden and other Nordic countries. Germany, Switzerland, will be in Belgium, France, Netherlands and United Kingdom accounted for 5-15 percent of the capital.

"We expect the books to fill very quickly. The most demanding customers have a lot of exclusive cars to choose from. But if you really want in a league of its own at the wheel of the most ingenious cars to be in the world, are only
Our the V60 plug-in hybrids, "said Stefan Jacoby.

Electrifying temporary presence
Among other things, the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid will be launched by the presence of "electrifying" temporary large-scale places. They appear in places like Stockholm, Berlin and London. The idea is that customers must take the car, where they feel most comfortable.
Polls show that the most important target group for the Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid include customers who love new technology and are the only ones present. The car is ideal for customers who want superior environmental performance, without any of the luxury cars of quality modern hotel.

Volvo Car Corporation expects that 80 percent of total sales are in the form of company cars.

Starter Pack includes Vattenfall
Vattenfall offers owners of this new car is a starter pack with 100 percent renewable electricity from Vattenfall's own production facilities and a wall charging station generates. The Starter Pack will be in the core markets of Vattenfall in Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands provided.

"Neither the economy nor society to climate change can go it alone. This is the Volvo Car Corporation the contract for cars with low emissions of carbon dioxide for development, but it is for society as a whole for future
sustainable creation. This project demonstrates how collaboration between experts in different fields are closer to a passage of each low-carbon products of a lifestyle intelligent climate, "said Stefan Jacoby.

Superior technology
From the ecological point of view, the hybrid plug-in is much greater than the first generation of hybrid cars, which in principle to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by 15 percent during the same model without hybrid disc.

In hybrid mode, the large battery in the Volvo V60 Plug-in hybrids are 65 percent fewer emissions of carbon dioxide a classic with the same V60 diesel engine: 49 g / km.
This corresponds to a fuel consumption of just 1.9 l/100 km of fuel.

Moreover, the degree to choose a button, the driver, up to 50 miles on pure electricity - or the combined capacity of the diesel engine and electric motor to use a real car driving, 70 hp and 215 Nm of torque create
440 200.

"At the request can choose from three different temperaments of the car, the V60 plug-in hybrid makes it better for all hybrids on the market.
Thank you to Pure, Hybrid and Power keys, this car is the perfect choice to combine uncompromising customer orientation, the minimum carbon dioxide emissions with a maximum driving pleasure, "said Stefan Jacoby.

A study of daily driving time shows that the majority of European drivers cover less than 50 miles per day, for example, to work and back.
Longer trips, the diesel engine, the car offers the same range as a conventional hybrid - but with much lower emissions of carbon dioxide.

2011 Volvo You Concept

The blend of contemporary Scandinavian design, exquisite craftsmanship and intuitive technology will appeal to luxury car buyers all over the world," Said Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation.

Ironically, this car is supposed to be based on Volvo's new scaleable architecture, which is only supposed to accept a new range of four-cylinder, 2.0-litre engines.

The steering wheel features wood and leather with aluminium and glass paddles complete with integrated touch-screens.

The
Volvo Concept You's central touch screen data can be "flipped" by the driver to the head-up display as well as exchange data with the rear passengers.

The Concept You is driver orientated at the front whilst offering comfort for rear passengers. The colour scheme is dark at the front, with the front seats fading towards the rear's lighter seating area, with the interior moulding into the rear seat to become part of the seating environment.

The off-black front seats feature suede in the centre for optimal grip.

The blend of contemporary Scandinavian design, exquisite craftsmanship and intuitive technology will appeal to luxury car buyers all over the world," says Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation.

This car features a more daring, coupé -like profile than the Universe Concept, while the front moves towards a more classic Volvo look," explains Peter Horbury, Vice President Design at Volvo Car Corporation.

The
Volvo You Concept radiates several aspects of Volvo Car Corporation's new, customer focused "Designed Around You" strategy:

Volvo's cars are intuitive and uncomplicated. The luxurious interior of the Volvo You Concept features a blend of intuitive smart pad technology and first-class craftsmanship.

The
Volvo You Concept design also integrates the luxurious qualities of a tailor made suit into the car.

2012 Volvo S60 R–Design

Many things come to mind when thinking of Volvo's cars. Good build quality, supportive seats, handsome interiors and, of course, safety.

A front spoiler, rear splitter with exposed exhaust tips, special seats and steering wheel.

The safety stuff's still there as well. The R design is the most powerful car Volvo has ever built. Safety still sells, but so does performance. Buyers looking for a combination of safety, comfort and performance might find the hot new Volvo a tempting choice
Also new is the 1.6-litre T4 turbocharged petrol engine, which is now the smallest engine in the range.

The Teknik models add Volvo Navigation System, Blind Spot Information System, Active Bending Lights, headlight cleaners, chrome front highlights, electric front passenger seat, and a revised instrument cluster.

MY12 T5 R-Design models get 18-inch alloy wheels, and all T6 models come standard with Volvo Guard Alarm system, keyless start, Blind Spot system, Active Bending Lights, front parking sensors and a rear lip spoiler.

This power plant was chosen as one of Ward's 10 Best Engines for its ability to strike a decisive balance between power delivery and fuel efficiency. Volvo has been a safety innovator since its inception in 1927 and shows no signs of slowing down. The introduction of groundbreaking technologies like City Safety and Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake aim to combat collisions caused by distracted drivers. City Safety has been proven to reduce accidents, thus reducing insurance premiums and cost of ownership.

Volvo's guiding principle of building safe, reliable vehicles has been unrelenting over the years due to the simple fact that cars are driven by people. From drawing board to driveway, Volvo is committed to creating a positive ownership experience in every respect. This is precisely why each model is designed to create a dynamic and intuitive experience.

Echoing the Scandinavian heritage from whence these cars came, exterior styling will become increasingly progressive yet sophisticated, while the development of interior space will focus on creating a warm and inviting environment.

1998 Volvo C70

In addition to helping with basic development and suspension tuning-all of which was directly overseen by Volvo-TWR holds a 51/49-percent majority position in AutoNova, a joint-venture firm that will build C70s at a completely refurbished Volvo plant in Uddevalla, Sweden.

The car's bounteous roster of standards will include, among other items, leather upholstery, wood accent trim, a tilt/telescoping steering column, power windows/locks/mirrors, cruise control, keyless remote entry with anti-theft system, eight-way power seats, dual-zone auto climate-control system, power moonroof, dual front airbags plus dual side-impact bags, and a 400-watt, 10-speaker AM/FM/cassette with three-disc in-dash CD changer.

Volvo plans to use the first batch of C70s as "showcase vehicles," also equipping them with the Premium Option Package (a Dolby Pro-Logic digital sound processor, heated seats, low-speed traction control, headlight washers, outside temperature gauge, and enhanced leather interior trim) plus an 18-inch wheel/tire upgrade. Those extras should push the car's bottom line to about $45,000.

A 13.1-cubic-foot trunk suitably complements the C70's roomy interior. Volvo's well-proven MacPherson strut front/Delta-link rear bolstered by a specially calibrated sport suspension package (stiffer gas-pressure shocks and larger-diameter anti-roll bars)-keep the 3325-pound C70 well planted, whether on the optional 225/40ZR18 tires or the standard 225/45ZR17 rubber fitted to our test vehicle. The saintly new
Volvo C70 is just loaded with excitement.

Review
Sheetmetal forward of the windshield is shared with the
Volvo C70 sedan and V70 wagon, but aft of the front glass the C70 is all curvy coupe or weatherproof drop-top.
Well-equipped coupes start at $39,500; convertibles go for a few grand more. Buyers can add traction control, huge 18-inch alloy wheels, premium leather upholstery, and heated front seats. This car is rock solid. A strengthened steel safety cage surrounds the convertible's passenger compartment and a Rollover Protection System (ROPS) designed to deploy when sensors determine that the car may flip prevents crushed skulls.
It will also change the way people think about
Volvo, and should fare well in the battle against existing luxury coupes and convertibles.

Volvo Cars Review

We sat down this week with John Maloney, Volvo Cars of North America’s VP of Marketing and Product Planning and current acting President. Volvo insiders keep telling us XC60 supply still can’t keep up with worldwide demand, so to us, it seems like adding the V60 would be a way to alleviate some of the XC’s excess demand and since it’s just an S60 with a hatch, it’d be very easy to federalize. Maloney also spoke briefly of the recent decision to eliminate the S40 and V50 models. The decision to name a new VCNA President is one that’s ongoing and has included candidates both from within and outside of Volvo, including Maloney himself.

Upgrade process
Owners can simply rock up to their local
volvo cars dealership, fork out £645, and a kind workman will connect a laptop to the car's on-board diagnostics 2 port.
This allows the Volvo mechanic to upload new code to the car's engine-control unit -- a bit like Jeff Goldblum did at the end of Independence Day.

Volvo won't confirm whether there's any improvement to the standard car's 5.9-second 0-60mph time, but it definitely feels rapid.

Sensible driving
The
volvo cars transmission is slightly at odds with its newfound power, too. The Polestar software upgrade unleashes extra straight-line performance from your V60 T6 for a relatively small outlay. It also makes the car more fun to drive, but, as it's a software-only upgrade, don't expect it to change the car's personality too drastically.

2012 Volvo C30,Reviews

Volvo has reshuffled its product plans and will launch a new Golf-size five-door hatchback for 2012 Volvo C30. The new model, based on the current Ford Focus-derived S40 sedan and C30coupe platform architecture, takes precedence over a replacement for the XC90 SUV and has been initiated by new CEO Stefan Jacoby.

Although less important in the U.S., hatchbacks of this kind are the most popular vehicle body style in Europe, making this new model vital to Jacoby's aim of reversing Volvo's recent sales decline.

Last year the company sold 335,000 cars globally — it has the capacity for 500,000 — but Jacoby says: "I believe a vision of 800,000 cars a year in 10 years' time is achievable. As a relatively small car company we can move quickly. Jacoby is also redefining Volvo's brand image, saying: "We need to focus on luxury.

2012 Volvo C30 has lost its distinguishing points as a product. In the Volkswagen Group [Jacoby previously headed up Volkswagen of America], everyone knew what each individual brand meant. Volvo at the moment is not sharp enough or in harmony with what the brand stands for. Jacoby would like to see the simple, elegant functionality of Apple products in Volvos. Also up for a rethink is Volvo's platform strategy. As far as engines are concerned, Jacoby considers them a "core competence." Next week, Jacoby and Volvo will be developing a new strategy for the U.S. market, where sales fell to 61,000 cars last year. It's a tough, competitive transparent market."

First you need consistency and sustainability. Inside Line says: A Golf-rivaling 2012 Volvo C30 should help Volvo in Europe, but whether Jacoby's reconfiguring of the brand image will help the marque enough remains to be seen.

Each week, our German correspondent slices and dices the latest rumblings, news, and quick-hit driving impressions from the other side of the pond. A system that you will soon see in a number of cars is the UniValve valve-lift system. Efficiency grows significantly, between 5.5 and 8.5 percent even if applied on the intake side only.

Even though Kolbenschmidt Pierburg’s core business is parts for internal-combustion engines, the company hugely profits from the trend towards electrification and increased efficiency. Fuel-saving technologies that the company peddled to carmakers for years with limited success now sell like hot cakes, according to CEO Gerd Kleinert. That includes variable pumps and low-friction products, lightweight components, etc.

While many recent concept cars might be well-suited for cramped European cities, several manufacturers claim their revolutionary (now we have to pay ourselves $1.50) cars are headed to our shores as well. Among dedicated hybrid models, Toyota’s Prius has nothing you could even call a rival. General Motors is targeting 10,000 sales for the Chevrolet Volt this year—that breaks down to over 830 cars per month—but while this month’s 281 units isn’t so hot, the car still isn’t available in all 50 states.

ach week, our German correspondent slices and dices the latest rumblings, news, and quick-hit driving impressions from the other side of the pond. His byline may say Jens Meiners, but we simply call him . . . the Continental.

Is carbon fiber replacing aluminum as the “cool” material to have?

Now the company is re-focusing on carbon fiber, and significant parts and panels could be used for series production vehicles as early as 2012.
GM’s control of Opel is underscored by design executive Liz Wetzel’s upcoming move to Rüsselsheim. The car has not been clearly defined yet. Buick gets a compact SUV based on the small Gamma platform (Chevrolet Aveo, etc.), and there could be a Chevrolet version of this SUV as well.

The R-Design is the sportiest member of the 2012 Volvo C30 lineup. The R-Design adds aesthetic differentiators like a full body kit with a monochromatic paint scheme, R-Design logos inside and out, matte-silver side-mirror housings, and 18-inch wheels. The company is currently testing a small number of electric C30s to determine the “viability of an entirely electric car.”

Alongside the (mildly) freshened C70 droptop it is debuting at the Frankfurt auto show, Volvo will be unveiling a likewise face-lifted C30 hatchback. There’s a larger trapezoidal grille, bigger headlights, and an overall smoothing of edges.
