Its new Door Edge Protector, which debuts in January 2012 on the Ford Focus, activates as the door is opened. The feature defends against more than 90 per cent of variously positioned obstructions to the front doors and 85 per cent at the rear doors.

The new Door Edge Protector extends into its protective position at a door opening gap of less than 150mm and it defends against more than 90% of variously positioned obstructions to the front doors and 85% at the rear doors.

Ford has debuted a new technology that could help prevent scratches and dents caused by opening vehicle doors.

This allows it to absorb the shock should the edge of the vehicle's door hit another object, defending against over 90 percent of obstructions to the front doors and 85 percent at the rear doors.
